OCTOBER OOC UPDATE POST.

Happy October, everyone! While Last Eden doesn't have Halloween, we do have a bout of spirit-relevant events and plot points laid out for you. This also marks our change to a rolling app cycle, so new PCs will be dropped in over the month.

TIMELINE.
A plot event will occur on October 15th. What happens will depend on PC actions in the first half of the month, so be sure to submit your setting interactions!

Activity Check will tentatively be from October 24th to 30th.

ARRIVALS.
For our new characters, they will appear inside the Sanctum hall while asleep. The Sanctum staff will freeze them in said sleep until they can be sure that no more people will be popping in. The enchantment will then be released for every character at the same time, and they will have time to get themselves oriented before venturing out into the Moon.

With regards to IC faction choice, your character can either be picked by their faction representative, or volunteer themselves to said representative. This can be threaded out by commenting to the NPC toplevel in the monthly mingle. You can also handwave it if you wish.

Returning characters will be invited back to the Sanctum for a meeting, and all characters will be able to listen to it. Lucius will have an announcement to make regarding the Light faction's progress on their predicament.

SETTING INTERACTION.
As each character's actions in the setting will have a definite impact on the plot, there is a system in which you can 'turn in' descriptions of what they will be doing and receive a mod reply on the outcome. You can then choose to whether thread out the activity - encouraged, but not compulsory. Turning in these will allow mods to be updated on the effect that characters have on the setting. Feel free to turn in multiple interactions, there is no limit.

FACTION NEWS.

This months marks the twentieth anniversary of the Exodus, and the mood in the communities has become more muted. Many of the older folk still remember the days of ash and fire; and they count their blessings that they did not perish. What truly happened on that day? Perhaps it's time that our characters find out about it.

LIGHT.
Lucius has finally figured out the nature of the Meteor - it was one of the environmental control terminals that were deactivated a long time ago to conserve energy. Why it fell out of its securing casing (drilled into the moon's rock, mind you) still remains a mystery, so investigations will still continue. He will impart PCs with the knowledge of how to dispel the protective barrier around it, so one is able to now enter the terminal. He can be questioned ICly in the monthly mingle log.

BLOOD.
There are whispers of a new temple gaining followers, one which plots unrest against the Queen with promises of restoring their nation's strength. The Queen has always handled challengers, so this seems to be yet another person's scheme to unseat her from her position of power. However, she has not made any reaction towards it - not until the temple makes their presence official.

In other news, border patrols in the Blood faction have now been stepped up. A few temples are openly offering their magic to anyone who would learn it for protection against the ethereal monsters - someone like you, perhaps?

SPRING.
Spring was the faction hit hardest by the Exodus, their rolling lands and wealth had all went up in flames. Many still bear scars from the apocalyptic event. Since it is a month of remembrance, it may be easier to pry stories from their lips.

One of the PCs, Stone, has also received a clue towards 'somewhere they should visit' from September. Investigating this 'somewhere' is optional, but also highly encouraged as it will expand November's plot.

ICE.
In response to the ethereal monsters and the presence of Meteor Lake, the Wintersmith has decreed a closer watch on wild dragons. PCs are encouraged (subtly) to visit their nests and check on how they're doing.

The Wintersmith will be evaluating faction characters' performance at the end of this month, ICly during the AC period. They will need to report to him what they have done, and he will evaluate their bond with their partners.

BOUNTIES.
The Bounty Board has been updated with October bounties! Taking up these bounties will give your characters not only money but also influence with the people they have helped.

Setting Interactions are open as always. If you would like a particular quest or thread to nudge your folks towards character development, feel free to let us know anytime and we'll arrange something for you.

I TELL MYSELF, I AM GOING TO BE ON THE BALL FOR THINGS THIS MONTH, SO HERE I AM. Hello everyone, it's your mod Eon! I play Julius Visconti here, a guy who was once turned into a monster but said NOPE and became a tree instead. He stays with his practically-boyfriend Sion and are working on a way to strike out on their own, without Lucius' help.

I plan to take up some of the exploration bounties, especially into the Monolith, but I'm also open to anything else. I'd like for him to learn about the other PCs home worlds, too! Hit me up anytime.

Characters involved: Stone, Lucius, maybe Lavi if he comes along too?
What they will be doing: Bringing Lucius crystal samples and pictures of the "meteor".

Stone has a lot to do this month!

First, he's going to Lucius with a handful of meteor crystals and some pictures of the Monolith thing that fell. He'll be told this stuff and probably want to go back to investigate further. Will need another person for that :3

Second, he's going to be hanging around the admin center in case more people show up this month, because that's two months in a row and it seems to make sense to check it out, in case it happens again....

Third, signing him up for the Spring festival bounty thing, where he will be carving and maybe even flying people up to release their airgourds a little higher. I'm also totally open to him getting approached by the eye-tattoo guy, but I don't want to hog the bounties :B

Finally, once that is done he's going hunting for the "somewhere" he was told to visit. Any other Spring people are welcome to come along (presuming the somewhere in question is in Spring territory), as are curious Ice dragon-riders.

I'll get a top-level up in the next day or two on the mingle! I'm on plurk at "cacopheny" if you'd rather hit me up there for plotting.

The pictures will confirm Lucius' findings that the Meteor was instead a terminal. He will explain that these terminals hold vast devices that are able to alter the environment around them - by spreading their sphere of influence and overlapping their range, a network of terminals can thus stabilize the atmosphere inside the Moon. What is problematic is how it had fallen out of the casing, given that others were built on the 'ceiling' and are still intact.

He will take the crystal and prime it to carry an 'opposite signature' (quoted verbatim) to the barrier field. By placing the crystal on the barrier, it will dissipate temporarily and allow Stone to pass. However, going into the terminal needs at least two PCs. Come back with a friend!

Stone will have thoughts, like maybe something knocked it out... he'll want to check the thing for damage in places that might suggest it just worked lose vs got hit/knocked or attached. He'll also want to know if it's possible to investigate where it fell from. He'll also offer to go collect some more crystals so Lucius can hand them out to other PCs, in case people missed the initial expedition.

I'll see about poking somebody for going "inside" though :3 /goes to add it to her plotting post for the month

Lucius can pinpoint where it fell from, though it is on the 'upper edge' of the moon and thus the air there is very sparse. He can work on a life preserver for Stone to make sure he doesn't faint at the height. This can be made with crystals from the Meteor, so it's a win-win situation!
