SEPTEMBER OOC UPDATE POST.
| SEPTEMBER OOC UPDATE POST. Hello, everyone! Welcome to Last Eden. We're excited to roll out our new plot arc for the month! You can find details of it below. As this is our first month as an open game, there will not be intensive events to allow characters to ease in. TIMELINE. New characters will ICly arrive on September 1st. A plot event will occur on September 15th. Something will be falling from the sky. There will be a log. Activity Check will tentatively be from September 24th to 30th. ARRIVALS. For our new characters, they will appear inside the Sanctum hall while asleep. The Sanctum staff will freeze them in said sleep until they can be sure that no more people will be popping in. The enchantment will then be released for every character at the same time, and they will have time to get themselves oriented before venturing out into the Moon. With regards to IC faction choice, your character can either be picked by their faction representative, or volunteer themselves to said representative. This can be threaded out by commenting to the NPC toplevel in the monthly mingle. You can also handwave it if you wish. Returning characters will be invited back to the Sanctum for a meeting, and all characters will be able to listen to it. Lucius will have an announcement to make regarding his progress on trying to send them back home. SETTING INTERACTION. As each character's actions in the setting will have a definite impact on the plot, there is a system in which you can 'turn in' descriptions of what they will be doing and receive a mod reply on the outcome. You can then choose to whether thread out the activity - encouraged, but not compulsory. Turning in these will allow mods to be updated on the effect that characters have on the setting. Feel free to turn in multiple interactions, there is no limit. FACTION NEWS. The knowledge of foreigners amongst the moon is already common amongst the government and ruling classes; however much of the native population still remains ignorant of the PCs' presence. Thus characters can pass themselves off as natives if they are careful enough. Being special can net you special treatment... for the better, or for the worse. LIGHT. The Light schoolchildren have gone back to school, which means you'll see lots more of interns and students running around the Tesseract. What's more relevant to the PCs though will be Lucius' research on returning them home. As described in his opening announcement, he is an artificial intelligence and thus needs more computing power to be able to advance his solution. The Light faction will specifically be issuing exploration tasks as well as other errands that they need doing around their faction grounds. Please submit a setting interaction if you wish your character to take this path. BLOOD. Being the faction with the most active citizens, news has spread of a monster attack against the Blood faction's city walls. Eyewitnesses comment that the large behemoth rammed itself against the walls before completely dissipating into nothingness. Surely the monster had been there, as the gouge marks on the walls are proof - but where did it go? Where did it come from? Really, all these are interesting questions. Snooping around the temples might give information. SPRING. It's time for the autumn growing season. The weather inside the Moon doesn't vary much, but the people adhere to their traditional planting periods out of respect for the old ways. Hopefully this term's harvest will be good. The Empress is making her rounds across her territory again. She will not be within the imperial palace and can be met on the road, if you're lucky. Feel free to submit a setting interaction if your character seeks her out. ICE. The Ice faction is so small that there isn't anything notable happening across the board. Mostly, the members are continuing their duties as dragon keepers and delivery workers. For the PCs, they will be introduced to their dragons within two to three days. Then, they are free to do what they wish after that. The Wintersmith will be evaluating faction characters' performance at the end of this month, ICly during the AC period. They will need to report to him what they have done, and he will evaluate their bond with their partners. BOUNTIES. The Bounty Board has been updated with September bounties! Taking up these bounties will give your characters not only money but also influence with the people they have helped. Setting Interactions are open as always. If you would like a particular quest or thread to nudge your folks towards character development, feel free to let us know anytime and we'll arrange something for you. ADMIN. What they will be doing: He's keeping an eye out for her once he's settled in and has heard the full story of what the political situation is like from the farmers and such. He'll want to chat, get an idea of how things work from the person at the top, and get an idea of what she's like herself. He will not be overly respectful, but he will not be rude, either. I'd be happy to thread this out once he's ICly been sorted off into his faction :)

Characters involved: Allen Walker (others, see note)
What they will be doing: Investigating the rumors in Blood nation of the monster attack. Regardless of whether I station him in Blood or Light, he'll be the mobile sort due to his Ice faction status (and earning money doing deliveries) and as soon as he hears that turn his attention to finding out the cause. A monster that appeared from nowhere and then disappeared—he'll look in particular for signs of something being summoned or conjured.
Later after initially asking questions he'll be getting others in his cr circle involved, but I'll have to wait until the intro log progresses to see exactly who that will be. Lux Crownguard and Lavi for sure, but most likely others. He'll be hesitant, but inform the roostkeeper at whatever tower he's stationed at as well (or whoever he's been told he should directly report to).

However, there are no traces of conjuring magic around the area, as testified by one of the wall sentries. If he asks around a bit more from the wall sentries, they'll tell him that this is usually an easy job, as there is absolutely nothing that comes from outside due to the Badlands being, well, dead. This is the reason that they suspect the attack might have been an inside job. They're puzzled by it too. If it wasn't a simulacrum and wasn't a native creature to this lands, then what was it?
One of them mentions that it also threw a sentry in the air and swallowed him (!!). The other sentries were prepared to send hell onto its ass (direct quote verbtatim) but before they could cast anything, the monster spit him out sans his clothes and dissolved.
Allen could probably hunt down the man with his harrowing experience.

Characters involved: Sion Astal
What they will be doing: Offering to assist Lucius' research on how PCs came to be on the White Moon/returning everyone home. Sion will definitely express his interest in collaboration, but if he is declined the opportunity, he will proceed with his own research. Particularly, he will be inviting the newbies to Light-faction territory for biometric scans, as they've recently arrived, and this will be with the intention of looking for trace amounts of radiation/anything which might explain spatial displacement/stuff which is out of the ordinary!!
Additionally, he will be interested in taking on various exploration tasks with the hopes of finding organic mats with which to make a space ship. o/

Regarding the biometric scans, we ask that you approach the characters themselves for scanning! They bear no traces of radiation, however. It's almost like they just popped into this world from a rift, or something.
Does Sion want to go mining? He should grab a friend. Maybe a tree friend.

Characters involved: Raelyn (by herself initially, later joining Allen Walker/etc.)
What they will be doing: Rae will be trying to find more information regarding the Mystery Badlands Critter™. She wants to go out into the badlands in order to follow up on the things she's already heard and seen, but it's been stressed that she really shouldn't go out there alone, so for now she'll be going and paying a visit to the places closest to where the sightings had occurred and asking what she can about them, particularly things like if the creature's been seen before (and where), and where people think it might be coming from (assuming the answer is anything more than simply "out there"), in an attempt to get an idea of where to start searching for it or more clues as to what it is.
She will be crossing paths with Allen at some point after getting at least some answers, and as they're working toward the same goal, she will opt to join up with him and anyone else that is accompanying him at that time.

Asking around for one of the eyewitnesses will reveal that these people saw a different attack from last month, where a man was bloodied by one of these and ran back in complete hysterics. So there seems to be not one but two badlands critters.... unless the same one came back.
Some of the locals suspect conjury was at work, but it was said that there was no magic nor curse at the area. Shamans can conjure real illusjons of monsters, but their use of magic would be detectable. Maybe some sort of puppet or doll? There is a temple of a Goddess of Dolls (and automatons), but it has only a small following. She could check this out with a friend.
Examining the ground where the monster appeared would also reveal that all plant life has been extinguished from the area. It looks like a dead patch of grey and dried brown. Strange, huh?

After this, she will go to the wall and look to see what kind of damage was done. The fact that there are new marks over the ones she had seen before will be rather concerning, as it's indicative of active attempts at getting inside; why else would it appear to be digging at the same spot?
It appears to me that inspecting the wall and the nearby area is the point where Rae and Allen would cross paths, seeing as the the gouging and the dead patch are mentioned in his interaction as well, so if his player's cool with it, that's where they'll meet up.

The wall gouge marks do seem like the monster may be trying to enter. Together, they would have dug 1/3 into the wall's thickness.
Maybe Raelyn and Allen can discuss what they might decide to do next. Let me know when you've decided on something to thread together, I'll give you more details then!

Characters involved: Kino and the Empress
What they will be doing: I think Kino would've scooted from the Sanctum pretty quick after their assignment, so I would love it if they could chance upon the Empress on the road! Kino will be interested in asking her some broad and general questions about herself and the faction, as well as the current situation with the harvest and things like this. Kino is used to speaking with figures of importance in countries they visit, so they will be very polite and respectful as normal. I'd love to thread this out, if possible. c:

What they will be doing: Investigating! I am here for details :) Particularly things that can be seen from the air and scented, and whether the crater is safe to swim or the object is visible over the water and able to be landed on... cuz Stone is going to do one of the two probably XD

Regarding scent, the lake is devoid of any smell except a faint charred tinge that might be explained as coming from the impact itself. The lake is completely clear (and again, devoid of anything inside), so it can be swum in. The water is just as cold as the air, so don't stay in too long!
The lake itself is about 3m deep. The bottom of the crater lake seems to be covered in a lot of small, shiny objects. Diving down and retrieving one will reveal that they are crystal shards small enough to hold in a human hand.
The monolith itself is a smooth, shiny black, about the same height as a 20-storey building/80m. Upon closer inspection, it would appear to have ridges and grooves in a somewhat geometrical pattern. This might be worth taking a picture of.
However, it's impossible to actually land on the monolith, as it has some sort of invisible force field covering it. When struck, the barrier will glow a brief blue before repelling whoever touched it back by a few metres.

I doubt Stone at least will be in danger of hypothermia. He won't spend 5 hours in the water, he'd fly over and then dive in and out wherever he needs to, probably. But good to know it's not comfortable... he WILL however hit the barrier. That'll be fun.

IC Date: September 15th, after this comment, and during any subsequent comments in the thread that it's a part of if Eon wants to go ahead and play it out
Characters involved: Raelyn, Julius Visconti
What they will be doing: Raelyn was initially going to try heading off on her own to investigate the 'meteor', but she kinda got intercepted by Julius before she could go too far, and is now accompanying him.
Upon arrival at the landing site, if they're able to get close enough for a good look, Rae in particular will be trying to see if there's any sign that the 'meteor' was forcibly knocked loose from whatever structure it was a part of before, and if she can find any such signs, she'll be mentally comparing them to the markings she's seen before.

For the most part, what they encounter will be similar to what is reflected on the Locations page. It is recommended that they take some of the crystals from the lake back with us... because using them on the monolith may lead to interesting results.
(I'm one of the players in this thread so I'll be giving mod clues in that capacity. )
