JANUARY PLOT POST.
| JANUARY OOC UPDATE POST. Happy new year, everyone! We hope that the next year will be fruitful for you as well. On the RP side of things, we have an exploration event planned for this month - to new beginnings! TIMELINE. The plot for January will last throughout the month, with our mid-month event being a sort of discussion forum as with what happened in December. Everyone passed AC as well! The AC for this month will be tentatively up on January 24th. SETTING INTERACTION. As each character's actions in the setting will have a definite impact on the plot, there is a system in which you can 'turn in' descriptions of what they will be doing and receive a mod reply on the outcome. You can then choose to whether thread out the activity - encouraged, but not compulsory. Turning in these will allow mods to be updated on the effect that characters have on the setting. Feel free to turn in multiple interactions, there is no limit. ONWARDS AND UPWARDS. Given the pseudo-alliance that was formed last month, the foreigners will be called upon to assist in their efforts to combat the Meteor Sect as a whole. This month has the Wintersmith recruiting PCs in an investigation of a Terminal that is reporting lowered activity. He believes that it is tied to the strange monsters that appeared a while ago. Characters will head out (with dragons and unnamed NPC escorts) to said Terminal located north of the Light faction territory. The Wintersmith will be investigating the upper half of the Moon at the same time, and will be available during parts of the excursion to interact with. What they find there may raise more questions than answers... FACTION NEWS. It's January! The seasonal variation is still mild, and characters will only be bothered by a light chill. LIGHT. Thanks to the effort of Philip and Rocket, Lucius has been backed up into a separate server. While his data is intact, there seems to be something still missing from the AI that is preventing him from being returned to his complete, previous form. He will be able to communicate with PCs through the use of a keyboard, as he is unable to project. This development aside, it seems that the Light civilians have grown more cautious over the winter. 'Better safe than sorry' is something they take very much to heart, such as stockpiling resources and being more careful to conserve what they use. BLOOD. Fights and duels have grown more common through the winter months. It is not odd to see two shamans duking it out with minor fireballs and spells, though these are not fights to the death. People seem more ready to assert their power and defend it, perhaps as a sign of the changing times. Rumours abound that the Queen has been taken ill by a supernatural plague. The priests at the Temple of the Sun scoff at such accusations, however. They will tell visitors that she is merely preparing for a commune that will bring definite proof of the Sun Goddess' strength. SPRING. The rite of rejuvenation conducted last month has given nature a new burst of life. The flora and fauna living in this faction will enjoy increased growth and vibrance for the next few months - enough to stave off any disapproval against the Empress, definitely. The villagers will return to tending their fields, and life goes on. Yet the unrest that stirs within the other factions seems to also take root here. Able men speak of taking up arms, children told to not venture far from fields. Everything is still in a state of peace, but how long will it hold? ICE. News of dragon murder has spread throughout the dragon roosts. With it comes tighter regulations on courier and travel, but nothing that really affects the foreigners as a whole. The truth of the dragon race will be coming to light soon in the plot. Please look forward to it! ADMIN. Setting Interactions are open as always. If you would like a particular quest or thread to nudge your folks towards character development, feel free to let us know anytime and we'll arrange something for you. Once again, thank you for sticking with Last Eden! If you have any feedback or suggestions for us, please do field it. The mods can be reached either on the mod contact post, or via PM/the mod plurk. ![]() |

Characters involved: Zelda
What they will be doing: IC RESEARCH TIME (๑•̀ㅂ•́)و
Zelda has been in the libraries in Light territory pretty frequently in the two weeks that have passed since she met Lord Light. She has also been talking to the roost keeper at the roost she's staying at in Light faction so she can learn about dragons.
The White Moon.
- Its history. When was it constructed and why? What political parties were involved? What has been going on here over the past 20 years?
- Crystals. What are they? Where do they come from? How do they work?
- Function and Maintenance. What stuff is the Moon supposed to do? How does it do it? How are its systems maintained? What are the Terminals? What do they do? How does gravity work here?
- The Badlands. Was this area always uninhabitable?
Ice Faction.
- Its history. Its people. Its culture. Anything she can learn. If these are her brethren now, she wants to know as much as she can about them. And especially about why no one is allowed to go into Ice's territory. She's also in mind to research the usurper that the Wintersmith told her about, as well as the Wintersmith himself.
How to train your dragon.
- What are these dragons and where do they come from? What's their life cycle? Why are they so associated with Ice faction? What kind of things do dragons like/dislike? How does one handle a dragon? What are their life engines and how do they work?

- The White Moon was, predictably, one of the Old World's two moons. It was where dragons lived - they were creatures that did not live on the Earth, but in the sky. The Blue Moon had fragmented twenty-four years ago and signalled the end of the Old World, bringing with it war and chaos. Amidst it all, the Wintersmith had used his connection with the dragons to hollow out its interior in preparation for departure. The War ended not because of peace, but because there were too little people alive to continue fighting.
- A deal was struck between the then-Light and Ice factions so that their technology could be combined to construct the moon. Refugees from all nations were accepted. It was intended to carry the survivors to a new land where they could live on. The new land is specified to be round. (The Old World was flat.)
- The buildings that are now in the Moon was moved onto it by Titan, one of the Blood faction's gods. The Moon left the fragmenting Old World through the sacrifice of Lord Light. He had given up his physical vessel so that it could be launched into interstellar space.
- The various factions kept largely to themselves in the first ten years, building the small pseudo-nations that are present now. Population has increased and with this increase comes a larger need to work together and manage inter-border relations.
- There is notably very little information on crystals. It seems these are classified. What is mentioned is that they are a substance that existed on the Old World but were extremely rare. Louise and Philip may have more knowledge about them.
- There is also very little information about the Terminals. Maintenance is done strictly by the Light faction. However, if she asks Lucius, he would tell her a few things: Terminals are large devices that modify the weather and air inside the Moon and keeps it habitable. Their circuits are powered by crystals due to their high energy density. He would also tell her that crystals can respond to the thoughts and feelings of those around them if they are strong enough - they can be instructed, which was how the Terminals were made to fulfil their specific function.
- Gravity pulls toward the 'lower' hemisphere of the Moon. If one wishes to visit the 'ceiling', one has to fly up against gravitational pull.
- The Badlands were originally uninhabited and a normal rocky landscape, but miasma appeared a few years into the Moon's lifespan and had been gradually increasing in strength. Thus expansion outward was halted. The miasma has plateaued in its intensity right now.
- The Ice faction originally hailed from a small kingdom named Isaz. They lived in the frigid mountain territory shunned by other countries and eked out a living from hunting and whatever crops that could grow there. Thus their value of independence and tenacity came from their old way of life.
- The last King of Isaz was one who would squander the nation's food stores and flay people for his own amusement. However, the harsh living conditions meant that uprising was not feasible... that is, until the Wintersmith came onto the scene with dragons by his side. He was once a blacksmith's son who ventured out into the wilds and was assumed to be dead. However, the dragons rescued him and imparted to him some of their magic. With it he was easily able to overpower the king's guards (some of which defected on the sight of a flight of dragons) and slay him in his own throne.
- Isaz was turned into a small republic after that. Once the Wintersmith took power, he introduced dragons as companions to his people and this made life easier in the country. With his foresight and strong magical power, he fortified his country from a small collection of hamlets to a culture they can be fiercely proud of. Thus his people respect him quite a lot.
- It should also be noted that despite his semi-youthful appearance, he has been alive for over seventy years, possibly longer than that.
- Dragons were considered as predators before the Wintersmith's time, as they would fly from the Moon and snatch away livestock. They are associated with Isaz because the Wintersmith trained them into allies.
- They are sentient to the level of dolphins, and veteran dragon keepers are able to hold a conversation with them. Dragons do not speak in words, rather they convey their intentions through a form of telepathy that requires tuned crystals as intermediaries. (Zelda can get one soon!) Their personalities are varied much like humans, with different likes and dislikes that one would find in a human population such as colours, vegetables, and types of food.
- Life Engines are as of now classified information. However, they are known to be crystals, which grant them the ability to survive in space. Not all crystals are Life Engines though.

Characters involved: Gohan
What they will be doing: After his talk with the Wintersmith, Gohan will spend a good amount of time just settling in.
Exploration: Gohan will spend a good chunk of time just exploring the moon. Visiting the different factions, and trying to get an idea of how things actually work in the moon. He already feels incredibly out of place, what with not really having any context for the politics of the moon. As such, he figures that walking around and actually interacting with people might help.
Dragon: He's also gonna spend the rest of his time in one of the roosts, interacting with his dragon. Treating it less like an ally for combat, and more like a friend he can talk to and hang out with (think Kid Gohan and the sabretooth tiger). It'll be a bit of a rocky start, since I imagine dragons are used to being active, and Gohan might come off as patronizing by not using the dragon to their full potential. So the dragon might be a bit stubborn with Gohan, unwilling to take directions at times, but eager to accept challenges from Gohan, like racing through the sky, or on foot, or seeing who can eat faster, etc. Basically proving itself like a cat, but also pretending like it doesn't want approval like a cat.
Eventually he'll settle in the Spring Faction roost, if only because he'll appreciate the surroundings. But he'll be actively flying all over the place, much to his dragon's annoyance.

His friendliness will give him a higher chance of success at getting locals to open up to him. He will receive requests ranging from the mundane of grocery shopping for old ladies and looking for errant pets to flying medicine across half the city for someone in critical danger. Doing these requests will also earn himself some money.
At some point in the middle of the month (after the event), Gohan will be receiving a Voiceseeker pendant. If kept on his person, the small crystal pendant will enable him to understand his dragon's thoughts, something like this.
