JULY OOC UPDATE POST. Hello, everyone! This is our first update post. As the first chapter of the game extends over two months, July marks the official start of the game's plot. Since things haven't picked up yet, there aren't a lot of developments; but we do have a lot of clues and quests that your characters can do. The OOC plotting post is here for your use! We've also got a couple of new people on our intro mingle, so do go over and say hi. PLOT CLUES. You have the option for your character to receive a plot clue in preparation for the log on July 15th. They will be ICly 'delivered' between July 10th and July 12th. We encourage your characters to share their clues with others so they will have a better idea of what they can be working towards for the latter half of the month. Feel free to forward-date threads, as always! Please comment to the toplevel below for mods to give your character a personalized clue. BOUNTIES. The Bounty Board has been updated with July bounties! Taking up these bounties will give your characters not only money but also influence with the people they have helped. Setting Interactions are open as always. If you would like a particular quest or thread to nudge your folks towards character development, feel free to let us know anytime and we'll arrange something for you. ADMIN. We're glad that the game has gotten off to a promising start! Nevertheless, if you have any feedback or suggestions for us, please do field it. The mods can be reached either on the mod contact post, or via PM/plurk. The head mod's plurk is free for the adding, and we're contactable on discord as well. Lastly, a gentle reminder to fill in the directory for your character, if you haven't done so yet.

If Giovanni wanders close to the Administrative zone, he might feel his PDD vibrate with a message from an unknown sender. If he opens it, it'll be mostly gibberish code except for a few words. They are:

When Naoto passes by a lake or a mirror on the 11th of July, she would see a flash of light coming from the mirrored surface. An image of the young man she had seen on her first day would appear, and he waves at her to get her attention.

"Please come... I need your help."

Then the image fizzles out into static and he's gone.

If Weiss travels with her dragon into Spring lands, she might catch some hearsay with the spirits that linger near ponds or lakes. They're discussing how the sun-crystal is showing some irregularity in its light. It's not visible to human eyes, but the spirits can see in different electromagnetic spectrums. It flickers every day or so. It doesn't worry the spirits too much, but it's interesting.

While Add is going about his daily business, he'll receive a transmission from an unknown source. It's mostly garbled despite his best attempts to render it, save for a few words:

When Roxas passes by one of the smaller temples, he would be able to witness some sort of commotion. Two people are chasing after a third one, eventually catching him within earshot and demand that he 'spill the beans'. The beans seem to be something that the third guy discovered in the Badlands. He talks a bit about the miasma and that he's torn a fragment from one of the 'monsters' that 'just appeared out of nowhere'. His captors threaten him further, upon which he tosses the fragment at them and runs away.

The Badlands are known to be completely devoid of life, however.

Jack has done a fine job of a-murdering, so there'll be a couple of ravens following him after 7/5. If he hangs around in the Blood territory, he will catch hearsay that the Badlands have become even more dangerous. While the miasma only saps people's strength, there are rumours of monsters with crystalline claws and teeth lurking in the mountains.

Sora will find that the spirits are generally very happy about the festival coming up, though they also tell him that the sun will be 'switched off' for the duration of the festival. They don't know why, just that it'll be happening and they've heard it from their leader. They also appear to be incredibly unbothered by it, telling Sora that it's to make the festival more realistic.

Sion will be unbothered by the Wintersmith unless he goes to look for him. That aside, he would hear talks that the Midsummer's Feast will be celebrated by the leaders at the Administrative Zone, where representatives of each faction will be in attendance. Of course, each nation will host festivities for its own people, so the Admin Zone one is more of a seasonal formality.

During one of his visits to the Light faction engineers, he will be able to hear a few of them talk about the environmental stability systems and how they're due for another check. Perhaps they need more funding to patch up some leaks. However, when asked about their conversation, they'll quickly leave without saying much.

9S, ever our valiant android wandering into the wilderness. There's a bounty up for exploring the Badlands, which can give clues. But other than that, his sensors may detect a very faint transmission coming from the Administrative Zone. If he follows the trail (even if it's completely garbled nonsense), he'll find that it leads straight to the Sanctum. The signal gets stronger at night. However, it'll cut out on July 14th.

Honestly he'd be liable to investigate that noise too if he picked up on it. That may be something he could investigate with 2B since they'd both pick up on it. Get A2 in there and we'd have the whole gang...

The signal can be traced to inside the Sanctum in particular, though if he'd present this as evidence to the people running it he would find that their own detectors are not strong enough to pick it up. Going in will have to wait until another day, alas.

2B will, at times, have the feeling that she's being watched. The Blood faction rarely employs electrical technology, so her detectors will be able to pick up a very faint transmission coming from the Sanctum, the same one that 9S will receive. If she follows the trail, she will find that it leads straight to the Sanctum. Pity the signal is complete gibberish, though.

She will also find that news of monsters in the Badlands have been spreading throughout the Blood faction. Most believe them to be just illusions or people seeing things, but there are a few others who intend to go and investigate themselves.

Sometime during July 11th, Luna will bear witness to a bloodied man running through the streets. When stopped by priestesses of a nearby temple, he'll rave about things that are 'coming' and ask them to save him from them. After a while, the priestesses manage to pry some vague information about the identity of his pursuers from him - that they disappeared entirely into smoke. The wounds on him seem to be inflicted by gouge marks. One of the women suggest wolves or some sort of sorcery, given that the man has traces of a curse on him.

He still seems to be hysterical, so the ladies will hand him over to one of the temples that specialize in healing. Further questioning of the man will reveal that he can't recall any further details out of sheer terror.

Yang will, at some point, be approached by a skimpily clad woman in the streets. The woman tells her that if she wants something to work on, she should go out of the city. Someone of her caliber should be able to handle a little fighting, right? Given that there are rumours of monsters out there, she could entirely make a name for herself.

If pressed for details, she would say that Yang should see it for herself. After that, she'll vanish into smoke and disappear.

There seem to be no monsters in immediate visible range out of the city from its gates, however.

If Cyrus takes flight with his dragon anytime during the four-day period, he may see that the sun-crystal seems to flicker in multiple colours at times. Usually, it's a clear crystal, so maybe it's just a trick of the light...?

Seems to not be, though. While the flickering has no effect on its light-generating abilities, his dragon will shake its head as if dazzled by its glare. Every single time. Without fail.

Yang will hear from the spirits that the celebration will be as usual, though the scope of it is vastly smaller than it was on the Old World. The energies of nature just aren't strong enough anymore. They can still get by with what they have, but... it's just a shame, really.

If it helps-- Kuroh will be looking into the locations of the other observatories in the other nations. You know, since spacedragons and delivery jobs help bring him everywhere.

If it'll help with deciding what sort of clue to give her:
   Rae will be generally wandering around and getting a feel for the places that aren't strictly off-limits to her (or the Blood faction in general) in an ongoing attempt to get herself settled in and not have to ask people what's where.

For the most part, Raelyn will have her questions answered as long as she's polite with them. The people of her faction may have a reputation for fighting, but they will listen to reason and tell her what she needs to know.

When she passes by one of the temples, she'll hear two priestesses talking about news that arrived from one of the border regions. It seemed like a large monster had crashed into the city wall and dissipated into mist after, which is very odd considering that the Badlands are supposed to be completely devoid of life.

While she won't be going into the Badlands, Rae is going to pay a visit to the region in question to see if she can find any sign that the monster in question had existed, despite the fact that there's supposedly nothing out there. If the news she overheard seems legit, then someone's gonna need to know about it, especially considering it sounds like whatever it was might have possibly been trying to get in.

The wall does bear quite the large impact crater, though due to the thickness of the construction it's barely a dent in its integrity. Accompanying the crash crater are also what suspiciously look like gouge marks, but whoever left them there is certainly long gone.
