AUGUST TDM.

➛ Welcome to Last Eden's TDM for August! Threads here can be counted as game canon.
➛ Feel free to use the prompts to test out a new character or to try out the game's premise!
➛ The TDM can be used for your application sample, though it is not a requirement.

A DREAM, OF A SOUL AWAKE.

You are asleep. The dreamscape ripples, resolves into a vision of a foreign land, and then a world of pure white. There is the sensation of rising through deep water, and then you find yourself in a room of white marble. Your items may be set on the floor around you, or you could have arrived bare-handed - whichever it is, you'll soon be addressed by a couple of tired-looking people in white coats. It seems they're as confused as you are.

A ➛ After getting a brief introduction to the White Moon and choosing a faction, you will be allowed to leave. It's a whole new world, after all - so why not look around? The architecture of the Administrative Zone is very formal, in high contrast to the Free Market which is practically a riot of colour and wares. Merchants from all four nations peddle their wares here - have a look around, but also keep a watch on your purse. Some things can be quite expensive.

B ➛ As you head out of the Administrative Zone's gates, a flash of light catches your eye. The sun-crystal is reflected quite brightly in the window of a nearby building, almost dazzling you - and in that instant you see someone behind you in the street. A youth with white hair and grey clothing, oddly familiar. You blink, and he's gone. Maybe he was never there at all.

TO THE STARS, WE ENTRUST OUR DIRECTION.

The money given to every new foreigner is limited. It seems you will be expected to earn your keep from now on, either through tradecraft or through offering your services to the populace. If taking on small contracts isn't your thing, each faction also has bounties up for the taking. After all, you carry a surprising resistance to the miasma that lurks outside the city walls. Why not put it to use?

C ➛ Fancy taking a ride on a dragon? The roostkeepers of the Ice faction are friendly and will allow you to interact with their charges as long as you're respectful of their boundaries. The older dragons will merely gaze at you pensively, but the youngsters are always up for a game of catch or two. There's also the option of dragon taxi if you wish to travel between regions. If you can fork out the coin, they'll send you across the Moon in the fastest time possible.

D ➛ The inland Sea is abuzz with activity at this time of the year. While the seasonal variations are dampened inside the Moon ship, that hasn't stopped the natives from hanging out at the beach. The Blood faction's side has plenty of revelry, with fireworks set off at night and grilled fish stalls set up along the waterfront. Some of the food on offer may carry potent effects, however - the shamans are used to ingesting enhanced wines, but are you?

E ➛ If you've let slip the fact that you're from another world, you may soon gain some fans. Some natives will be curious and wish to interview you, but others may have more shady intentions. It can be hard to distinguish well-wishers from kidnappers - if you're being cornered by a few very earnest folk, it might be time to run.

F ➛ The roostkeepers will let you ride one of their older dragons if you are going to the Badlands on an exploration mission. It's a desolate landscape barren and devoid of all plant life, but such rocks might hide valuable treasures. Strange ores and crystals jut out of rock formations about a mile or two outside the city walls. Even map information will fetch you some reward from your faction. But don't venture out too far, or your resistance may wear off and leave you at the mercy of the elements.

G ➛ Wildcard! Feel free to utilize minor NPCs if needed. If you have any questions about the setting, direct them towards the FAQ.

Stone | Books of the Raksura

B.

The tall, raw-boned old man-- well, grayed out man; his face is weathered but not lined, and his skin is as gray as his hair-- pauses at the sight out of the corner of his one good eye, and glowers, shoulders tensing in a way that isn't particularly human. The way his tongue flicks out to taste the scents on the air, not quite the right shape and color for a human tongue, isn't very human, either. There's even a strange rumbling coming from him, that doesn't sound like it should be able to come from someone his size and shape-- he's growling. Stone hasn't had great experiences with visions or people who might or might not be there.

"If there's someone there, they had best come out," he says after a moment.

D.

Though he isn't trying the wine-- it smells funny, and he doesn't quite trust this place yet-- Stone is sampling just about everything else. He's always loved groundling food, and he doesn't suspect everyone of trying to poison him. So he's wandering the various vendors, coming away from each one with a handful of their wares to try.

And eventually he'll even head out into the water, though once he's out deep enough, people will stop running into a mostly-clothed old man and into a creature about the size of your largest draft horse with black scales, spines along its neck, and bright blue eyes-- one of which is clouded as if it's blind. It's oddly hard to make out the details, and it might frighten a few people-- but as soon as someone screams, there's something like black mist for a moment where the creature just was, and there's the old man again.

"Sorry," he says.

F.

Stone takes a dragon on his trek out of the city, mostly at the insistence of his faction, but he doesn't ride it. What he wants here is to fly, and he'll do that with or without a companion. Still, flying with said companion is nice enough, and anyone else outside the city's walls will find the big, black winged beast circling alongside the local dragon, perhaps playing a bit of chase, stoop, and dive with it.

Lavi | D.Gray-Man | CRAU from The Far Shore

[B]

[So this is what the sun-crystal looks like.

Lavi still isn’t sure how he’s managed to arrive in this place, especially when he’s still trying to get used the very idea that shinki doesn’t exactly seem like a common thing around this area. It makes him feel on edge, unsure of how to properly proceed.

Looking at the sun-crystal is dazzling, almost enough to blind him when he catches sight of a reflection.

Startled, he turns to look at the person, only to be left even more confused when he sees no one. He runs a hand over his face.]

Fuck.

[C]

[It’s dragons.

Dragons.

Lavi can immediately be found with one of the younger dragons. The dragon has taken kindly to Lavi, nipping at his hair to get him to play. The redhead seems amused, reaching up to gently rub its snout in an almost affectionate way.

He doesn’t seem to be in a hurry to really ride one, so he’s just enjoying giving the dragons a lot of attention.]

[E]

[Why are there people around him?

Lavi feels the strongest temptation to run, possibly to avoid being questioned by other people. He never should have let it slip that he’s dead and serves a god.

Though, the idea of gods seem to be something completely different here than the Far Shore. He frowns a bit as he manages to slip away, only to feel himself jerk a bit in surprise when one steps in front of him.]

Sorry, but I gotta run. Can’t stay.

[Help.]

[ Ocher hair, evocative of flame. An eyepatch and the mighty frown of someone (a no one, by his own definition, bound only to his impartial chronicles and the story of a vagabond) who noticed so, so very much, but disliked being noticed himself.

Drawn to the crowd (denizens of the White Moon, members of each faction flocking to survey the newest arrivals upon the ship), the Director had hoped (and so too had dreaded) the thought upon happening upon someone familiar. Upon someone like Lavi, to whom Sion had given both flowers and camaraderie before they'd parted ways, the other man taking his leave of the Quad to sail the sea of stars with the Noah (and a stupid girly-face in tow...!).

And so--...

Even as a knot twists in Sion's stomach (Lavi, should you not be worlds away from this place, carving a path and a name of your own choosing?), it is an easy thing for him to smile; to cut in close to the other man, and link Lavi's arm with his own in a gesture which is incredibly light of heart and thoroughly at ease. ]

Forgive me, friend— [ Wearing a much too-charming smile, Sion cants his head to the side, winking to the civilian as he declares!: ] —but I'm going to steal this one away. ☆

[ And lo: he does, in the blink of an eye, whisking Lavi away and out of sight with a speed which can only be described as preternatural.

Where could Sion be heading, though? If Lavi can't keep up, Sion could always carry him...! ♫ ]

[Someone has come to take him away, and while he's grateful for the intrusion, there's also something else that makes him initially want to pull away.

He tries his best to keep up, only waiting for a bit before he forces himself to stop.]

Hold on.

[Why are you going this far to help him out?]

[ Grinning, Sion can only think of the present where Lavi matches him pace for pace, and there is a measure of fun to be found in darting away and leaving all of one's troubles behind. Though...! Sion is acutely aware of the instant in which his captive's the other man's footfalls begin to slow, signaling a stop which so too brings the Director himself to a halt.

It is with a precise economy of motion that he releases his hold upon the other man, continues forward for exactly one step, before pivoting neatly upon his heel to face his companion—gold eyes which are lambent, creating an after-image with their own light, interlocking with green. ]

H'oh? You're out of breath, already? [ —the words are a gentle tease, utterly devoid of malice but surely boasting a capricious lilt; an air of something whimsy and belonging only to the sky. ]

You'll have to be better prepared for next time. The civilians here are... ah, rather relentless in their pursuit.

[ ...way to make them sound like a mob, Sion...

And way to sound overly cheery while doing it??? ]

I haven't exactly been having an easy time.

[His tone is a bit dry, though he would admit that there's still something off about this guy that he can't quite figure out. The gold eyes makes him think briefly on something, something that is simply beyond his reach.

However, the way this guy acts--

It makes him think of Allen, and not in a good way.]

....Those are some reassuring words. [He wonders if a Borderline would be able to work here, but:] Who are you?

[ Reassuring words, Lavi says, and Sion seamlessly counters with a wry "at the very least, there is never a boring day", but before he is able to continue on—perhaps to openly wonder about the other man's adventure; his voyage from the Quad to the next cluster of stars—Lavi takes it upon himself to ask something else. Something of the Director himself, prompting Sion to consider his companion all the more carefully, searching the features which he knew for something far more familiar still and--...

(Finding nothing at all.) ]

My name is Sion. Sion Astal. [ It is quite clear, in this moment, that Sion had heard nothing of the other man's talk of serving a God. Of a world unlike any of the realms which Sion himself has known. ] ...and I fear I've imposed upon you, haven't I?

[ And not for the first time.

In Lavi's eye, Sion glimpses a distance that had been present on the day when he'd asked: "why is it that I feel you cannot bear to look at me, Lavi?".

(And in next moment, he'd been answered with: maybe... you just can't bear to look at yourself.)

His gaze falling downcast, a thoughtful expression crosses Sion's delicate features; a pensive air stark in contrast to his valiant rescue and too-whimsy follow-through. ]

To make amends, I will do all that I can to assist you. [ Giving pause, Sion shakes his head with an apologetic smile, the gesture somehow sad: ] Though I've only been present here for a handful of weeks myself, I've recently found my footing.

And... we are comrades, you and I, united by our mutual displacement.

[Sion Astal.

The name is immediately implanted in his mind, something that makes him wonder just what kind of history the two of them had shared. It's no question that the redhead feels as if they should have met before, something that should have stood out to Lavi from the get-go.

"And...we are comrades, you and I, united by our mutual displacement."

Lavi almost bites the inside of his cheek.

Something rings in his mind, a familiarity he can't quite place, but the more he looks at this man, the more he wonders if he knows Allen. It bothers him, it makes him want to pull away from this man completely.

He makes Lavi want to find a way back to where he should belong.]

[ It's hard to say if it's awe or slight numbness to the situation to blame for why Allen slows when finally he steps out and is briefly blinded by the reflected light. So bright and so white—it's almost familiar... but has Allen pressing his lips together a little at that. Standing a bit straighter as he shields his eyes for a moment and lets them adjust.

This is a moon..? ]

... [ It's a little much. And anyone taking notice of the strange white-haired boy (longer now; tied back in a ponytail) with an even stranger scar on his face, dressed so trimly in a white and black uniform reinforced with what appear to be luminous dragon scales.

Not the strangeness of any one thing in this place. To which he will only take a breath and tip his head back. To will the tightness in his throat to relax and the heartbeat in his ears—the heartbeat he hadn't heard in several months—to quiet. Not here. First, keep going. Just, even in not wanting to linger or cause anyone to worry over a stranger acting weirdly...

...where?

But he's gently headbutted by the rotund golden golem that has been flying as if on a gentle tether over his shoulder the entire time. It smushes itself against his cheek in a fussy manner, making snapping sounds with its teeth. (Teeth??) ]

Aaa. [ With a weak, quiet sort of laugh he scratches his cheek for a moment before lightly patting the creature. ]

It's a little weird, Tim... [ Here we are again, somewhere strange. Somewhere really strange. But it's okay. We'll be okay. Even if it doesn't feel okay.

(Even if it doesn't feel okay at all.)

We're alive again. ]

—! [ And not alone, as being one ever used to feeling creepy gazes on him and recently unused to being noticed by normal humans whatsoever in his stint as an archangel, Allen turns quickly and blinks for a moment. Except that the person he thought he saw for a moment...

...they're not there? ]

...? [ blinking, his shoulders drop a bit; dumbfounded ]

A spirit? [ ??? Why isn't he still one then... ]

-E-

[ THIS IS TERRIBLE, IT'S ALMOST AS BAD AS THE HERO-WORSHIPPING FANS IN ENPRISE WERE.

Which is to say Allen is handling it with charm and diplomacy.

Which is also to say that he just kind of looks like he might bolt, too. Waving his gloved hands a bit to urge the growingly enthusiastic crowd to please desist. ]

Eeh? Pen-ta-gram? [ some excited man in robes begins to explain with gusto. to think he would be so bold as to carve it on his face!! ] No it's not quite like that..

[ A woman who's made her way up front—actually there seem to be several younger women who have gathered—fawns for a moment and he looks quite taken aback. ]

It's not that pale, is it...? Dashing? [ oh.

...

this is horrible, he needs a hood again ]

-F-

[ Let's preface this with Allen was never even terribly comfortable around horses. In Enprise? Traveling? He could get along with Lux's griffin just fine. Some of the weirder animals he'd be quite cheerful and at-home around like there was absolutely nothing strange about it. Yes, even the giant spiders.

But he was more than fine with never riding any of them. He was more at home on trains, thank you.

Maybe it's also that he had to reluctantly kill a dragon to put its spirit to rest and is sort of wearing a coat reinforced with dragon armor and scales. I mean... he wouldn't blame them if they somehow knew, right? They'd have every right to be mad with him!! Which is probably why he probably tried to awkwardly laugh it off that maybe they shouldn't fly. That'd be fine right? He's okay with walking!!

No? Crap.

So hail, friend. Or—whoever you are that got stuck with him for this excursion. As Allen is sporting the most lopsided sort of nervous smile as he seems to debate patting the scaled muzzle of the elder dragon like one might a horse, but... decides against it. ]

The place we're going then—is it far?

[ He isn't going to try to squirm out of it again, but.. So about this time he got thrown into a lion's cage as a kid.... he's kind of getting flashbacks.... ]

The young traveler is out in the Badlands, though they had done so on their own; while the thought of flying somewhere on the back of such a large and strange creature was enticing, they risked making Hermes feel cross and left-out. So the two of them had ridden out into the wilderness on their own, a child and a motorrad, out amidst what seemed to be a great deal of nothing.

Something like that wasn't a disappointment to Kino. As a traveler, they were used to experiencing great swathes of very little in-between the pinpoints of excitement and intrigue. They slowed Hermes to a halt, cutting his engine and leaning him onto his kickstand. They had planned to simply look around a little, see what was similar and dissimilar among the rocks, but something else caught their eye.

There were figures wheeling about in the sky. From the ground, it was hard to tell what they were—just the occasional flutter of two different pairs of wings. "What's up there, Kino?" The voice that emanated from the motorrad was like that of a young boy. The traveler doesn't respond for a moment, instead fishing something out of their pocket: when attached to a gun, it would act as a scope, but for now it would act as a spyglass.

They peered through it at the creatures far above in the air. One was one of the dragons—huge, lizardlike—but the other was more difficult to make out.

"One is one of those dragons. The other is... something else." They slowly lower the spyglass. "Hm. Maybe they'll fly closer. I'd be able to tell."

A brief pause. "Hopefully. The rest of this desert is so boring."

F. Also let's assume the inevitable heartbreaking reunion already happened

[personal profile] rememberher 2017-08-17 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ Really, she doesn't understand what the problem is here, or why he suddenly seems so incredibly cagey all of a sudden. This isn't much different from their experiences in Enprise, and while a dragon likely isn't as docile as a horse might be, at the same time...

No, she really isn't thinking about the fact that he actually had to kill a dragon. Then fight his wife. That would make his behavior make sense. Instead, the slight blond looks almost perplexed, blinking once, twice, before canting her head to the side. ]

I don't think so, but... hmm.

[ Is he on some kind of time limit here? She really doesn't understand. If he had prior arrangements, then he should have said so! In that case...

Crossing past him, past all of the much older-looking, calmer dragon mounts, Lux hones in on a particularly small, blue-scaled dragon stabled away from the rest. Its wings flicking in what might be mild irritation, the air around it crackles with energy. It doesn't look like it wants to be approached.

Just... don't tell Lux that, because that is definitely where she's headed, stopping just short of the creature's stall and gesturing toward the drake with an upturned palm. ]

This one looks like it should get us there in no time at all. Look, he's raring to go!

[ Is that a cloud of smoke puffing up from its muzzle? Yes, yes it is. ]

Stone may be partially blind in one eye, but he still has the long range vision of a predator, and the mostly rocky, barren terrain shows a traveler rather well. Curious, and wanting to make sure it's someone who's supposed to be out there and not in trouble, he banks, flicking his tail for his dragon companion to follow him, and circles in that direction.

It'll be a moment before he's close enough to land, but he's obviously coming Kino's way, and as he gets closer it's easier to see that he's definitely not one of the local dragons. His shape is more humanoid, less reptilian, though the various spines and scales definitely do make one think "dragon", and his haunches and shoulders are heavier than most humanoids generally look, well-muscled and strong enough to support his wings. He's not as big as the dragon, but he's plenty big, perhaps the size of a very tall draft horse, with a twenty-foot wingspan.

[Kino had heard stories of dragons, sure. But they had also heard stories of angels, devils, demons, monsters of the woods and the oceans—they were all interesting, as Kino found the vast majority of stories they had come across, but at the end of the day they were just that. Thoughts and ideas passed down from one generation to the next, usually for some sort of purpose.

But here, dragons served a very different purpose, one which stepped directly from the legends and into living, breathing reality. The young traveler is a little wide-eyed as they approach the creatures assembled at this particular roost. It's actually the machine they're kept balanced at their side, a well-maintained motorrad, that speaks up first:]
I can't believe it!

[Kino can't really either, but one tends to believe their eyes after a good deal of time spent on the road.

The traveler carefully stands Hermes up on his kickstand (to his grumbling complaints) and approaches the small group of dragons. They were actually walking towards where the young man was petting the nose of one of the smaller beasts, with an intent to ask him about it, but another of the younger dragons approached to give them first-hand experience before that. It looms over the kid, snorting and looking at them expectantly. For Kino's credit, they don't look at all frightened—just cautious.

It moves its head closer to them, and Kino pauses briefly before shucking off one of their gloves and gently patting the ridge of its nose. The scales were smooth, faintly warm. The dragon gave what seemed to be an approving rumble.

Kino looks over their shoulder to the other newcomer, a small smile on their face.]
They're really incredible — [the kid begins to say before the dragon interrupts, nosing further against Kino's hand. They give the beast another pet.]

That's okay, I'll just watch them from over here! [That voice, which sounded like it should've come from a young boy, sure did just come from the motorcycle sat a short distance away. To confirm that, Kino shoots him a bit of a look.]

[The black creature coming in to land-- beside one of the dragons, rather than riding it-- definitely isn't a dragon, but it does sort of look like one. It's black, it's scaly, it has wings, and while it's not as big as the dragon, it's plenty big anyway. It's a little blurred around the edges, making it hard to look at directly, but given the way it's butting heads with the dragon it just landed beside, and stretching in a somewhat human-like way, it might be friendly.

The way it turns one bright blue eye on the boy sitting on the floor with the fledgling and quirks what might be a smile-- albeit a smile full of sharp teeth, and accompanied by some flicking of its head-spines-- also suggests friendliness.]
onlyatraveler: (hermes probably said something dumb)

[personal profile] onlyatraveler 2017-08-17 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
They certainly don't need the makeshift spyglass to know that the two aerial creatures were inbound. Kino looked through the device for a moment longer before putting it away, seemingly calm in the face of the approach, though that placidity belied experience and understanding of how to handle a situation with something unknown and not properly understood. In their own world, those that chose to travel were often exposed to such things, which could either be dangers or wonders (or a combination of the two). That Kino had successfully traveled for so long was a testament to their instincts when such a scenario arose.

Though the second creature had wings that might seem similar to that of the dragon, the body shape, as it grew closer, was very different. Humanoid, even, although the proportions were off. Kino steps to Hermes' side, laying a hand on the metal of the handlebars. "So? What did you see?"

"I'm not sure. It's not like anything we've seen."

"So, what do we do?"

"They're coming this way, so we will greet them." They pause a moment, peering down at the motorrad. "So be sure you don't say anything rude."

The machine gives a small harrumph, but says nothing further.

He circles tighter until he comes in to land, far enough away that the scoop of his wings slowing him down and the dust from his landing doesn't touch the young man. The dragon lands behind him, raising even more dust, dark in the barren landscape.

When it clears, the black beast is gone, and there's just a tall, raw-boned old man with gray hair, gray skin, and a face more weathered than really wrinkled. His eyes are blue, and one is cloudy like it's at least partially blind. He pats the dragon's nose, then pads on over. His feet are bare, oddly enough, though the rest of him is properly clothed, and he even has a shoulder bag of some sort.

"Though only people with dragon nursemaids got to come out this far," he says, by way of greeting.

Though true, it's no drab gray but crisply monochrome black and white that Allen is dressed in. Pale enough to be a bit blinding himself with how he and Timcanpy catch the light. (He really does need to get a hood again.)

Though he's the one looking at Lavi like he's seen a ghost. ]

Lavi...? [ Did he imagine it? To be honest...

To be honest, waking up this third time someplace strange—he had already resigned himself to being alone and kind of forever without a home again. Told himself it was okay he was alone. It meant they would still be okay back home, right...? Even if it felt like it ripped a part of him out, a part of him so repeatedly torn away it seemed impossible he wasn't scarred into numb resilience. That it isn't something so raw he has to tip his head back and swallow lest it overcome him before he's found a way to center himself again.

It's why he's barely aware that he's moved forward until he already has. To not—as he once did one summery night on a balcony in Caissa—vault himself over the railing and dash off into the castle gardens before letting someone from the Order (even if it was Lavi) catch up to him. To not follow some deep-rooted instinct to flee, not when that life has already been left pretty far behind.

To not do anything of the sort, but to run forward to snag—proprieties be damned!!—the other boy's elbow in both disbelief and crushing, raw relief. ]

'Like Allen...' [ —the Director echoes, voice falling careful and soft as he offers the name its due amount of reverence, for Lavi had intoned it with as much (whether the man realized it or not). If 'Allen' were esteemed in Lavi's eyes, then of course Sion would honor the sentiment, but--... There is also something missing, something more which causes the name to linger as a shade, a shadow of a thought at the back of the Director's mind, manifest as a testament to something which he never would truly regain, but still had self-awareness enough to miss all the same.

(It's a terrible thing, isn't it, to be so poignantly aware of something which is lost, but so too be unable to reclaim it.) ]

He is important to you, isn't he? [ (Lavi, is this the ghost you would never speak of?) ] Strange though it is to say it, I feel as though I should know of him, but--...

[ It's troubling, that Sion cannot wholly identify where the notion itself stems from. Disquieting, like the thought that Lavi, as he is, appears to be accustomed to the fact that 'forgetting' is commonplace. ]

Traveling the realms takes its toll upon those who would undergo the voyage. [ Or such is Sion's own personal belief, after being granted the technology to investigate his own displacement upon the White Moon by the Prime Minister of Light. ] Some pieces of ourselves are unable to travel with us, as it were.

There are those who I have met here who have no recollection of me from before— [ Alice, Lunafreya. ] —and it would be of no great surprise to me if the opposite were true, as well. Though...

[ Shaking his head, Sion smiles again, intrinsically knowing to fall back a step in order to give the other man room enough breathe. ]

That does not make it any easier. It is an ever-present ache, one which I do not think will ever abate, and what's more, I am not the only one carrying it, which is why...

No one should have to bear that burden alone. [ And that is said with no small amount of conviction, for it is the one truth which Sion most believes in. ] You are my comrade in more ways than one, Lavi, and I hope that one day you will be able to call me the same.

[ And even if that day should never come to pass... it will be all right.

Lavi, Sion is sure, will find his way. ]

[Lavi is a bit curious when another boy approaches the dragons.

He allows his hand to slide down its neck in an affectionate gesture before he looks over at the traveler. Nothing about him stands out, but he's more curious about the two different kinds of voices that doesn't seem to make sense.

His eyebrows furrows a bit, mostly in confusion as he tries to figure it out before he glances at...what is that?

The redhead is a bit confused now, enough that it has the dragon nosing him for more pets.]

What is that voice?

[...That's not alarming at all.

Lavi nearly jerks a bit in surprise when the other creature lands, but the dragon he's with keeps him upright.]

Uh...hi?

ALLEN [1/3]

[He wasn't expecting to see anyone he knew here at all.

The bond he would have with his god is nonexistent here, and he's sure that if Cardia was truly here, she would have called him by now. Everything feels disoriented to him, something that makes him want to pretend that everything he's experiencing now is nothing more than just a dream.

But then he sees Allen, and he's sure that it's just a flicker of his imagination.

Just--]

[Wait.

It's Allen.

If this was a dream, then Allen wouldn't be here. Not like this. Not looking at him desperately as if they've been apart so many times before and it tugs on Lavi's heartstrings once more.]

Allen.

[There is a strong wave of relief that courses through him, and he couldn't resist the urge to tug the boy - god? - into his arms into a tight hug.

It's a vulnerability that the redhead wouldn't often allow himself to feel, to show to anyone - especially Allen - but it was also something that he couldn't fully prevent given how disconnected Lavi became to everyone and everything. He was estranged from the people he befriended and knew; in fact, it can be safe to say that he was starting all over again from a blank slate.

Lavi could barely keep himself from squeezing the younger teen just to make sure he was real.

In fact, he was sure that Allen might just punch him this time to get him to let go.]

[This man doesn't seem to be surprised, not really.

"He's important to you, isn't he?"

Lavi almost scoffs at that. He's not sure if Allen should be someone important, perhaps not in the way that Sion suggests but the redhead couldn't deny the fact that Allen is also someone he considers to be an anchor of sort. He wonders briefly just what it is that makes Sion so understanding, especially when it seems that he himself is still reeling from what's happening.

Sion knows how it feels be forgotten and to forget.

In every way, Lavi knows that this man can help if he allow him to.

At the same time, he's sure that the similarities with Allen doesn't end there.]

...One day, perhaps. But you'll have to excuse me if I don't trust you right away.

[Even if he does seem to have an idea that the chances of that happening are unlikely.]

Did you know me once before?

The wind whipped up reached the young traveler, however, kicking up the trailing edge of their long overcoat. Now face-to-face with the strange creature, which still resembles nothing Kino had ever even had described to them, with the dragon looming behind, the youth feels a small amount of trepidation. They remain calm, however, blinking through the dust as it settled. Strangely enough, by the time it had, an entirely different figure stood before the two of them. There's a moment of surprise on the traveler's face before it reassembles to its usual composure.

That he seemed to have some sort of transformative power was certainly odd, even in the eyes of a traveler who had seen many strange things in their short lifetime. But the stranger showed no animosity, as far as Kino could tell, neither by presence or the words offered as greeting.

"That certainly would have been faster." The wry humor was offered without much change in expression; it seemed to be a running characteristic that the kid is just very straight-faced. "But it would have left Hermes," said with a pat on the handlebars of the motorrad, "behind, so we decided to come out here on our own."

"Well, I suppose the dragon could've carried me, but..." The voice trails off, clearly not pleased with the concept.
